Our Eye Care Doctors Treat a Number of Eye Diseases

Your eyes are complex part of your body. If you are suffering from an eye disease that is affecting the function of your eyes, please call on our team at Professional Eye Care - Optometry PA. Here we have listed a number of common eye diseases that affect the population. Do not feel alone if you start to develop some of the symptoms listed on this page. Call on our office, and we will do a full exam to determine the best course of action.

Do You Have…

  • Conjunctivitis (Pink Eye): This is an infection or inflammation of the conjunctiva (the thin, protective membrane that covers the surface of your eyeball and eyelid). If you notice a redness and itchiness in the white of your eye, tearing, or even sometimes discharge, come into our office for an examination and treatment.
  • Diabetic Eye Disease: You are susceptible to diabetic eye disease if you have type 1 or type 2 diabetes. It’s important to know that early detection and treatment will dramatically reduce your chances of permanent vision loss.
  • Glaucoma: This eye disease is an increase in the intraocular pressure of the eyes, which causes damage to the optic nerve. Unfortunately, there are no signs or symptoms in the early stages of the disease. Early detection and regular eye exams are vital to slow the progression of the disease.
  • Macular Degeneration: This is a chronic and progressive disease that will gradually destroy your sharp vision. Why? The macula, a tiny spot in the central portion of your retina comprised of millions of light-sensing cells, eventually starts to deteriorate as we grow older. This association with aging is which is why it is commonly known as age-related macular degeneration (AMD).
Schedule an appointment with our team today if you suspect that you or someone you love has any of these eye diseases. We can help!
